Wearing a black latex dress, with her hair braided, Aguilera showcased her vocal range as she sang the ranchera track that features on her latest Spanish-language album, “Aguilera.”

After her riveting performance, Aguilera accepted the award, which recognizes her philanthropic and humanitarian contributions beyond her musical work.

“You guys are the best. Thank you so much for being part of this record, part of my family,” Aguilera began. “So nice to be part of a piece that can say my name correctly and beautifully.”

She went on to note the current news cycle and the destruction of Hurricane Ian, directing people to a website where they can support those affected by the devastation.

“When I came into this industry as a young girl, I vowed to myself to use my voice and position for something deeper than just making records,” Aguilera said. “I wanted my songs to have a real purpose.”

“Growing up in a chaotic environment, I realized that sharing my story was vital to connecting with others who might struggle to be heard,” she added.

She added that it has always been important for her to use her position with integrity and determination. “I continue to listen to my heart and sing things, sometimes painful, that can help others,” said the artist, before expressing how proud she is of her relationship with the LGBTQ + community, the World Food Programme, amfAR and other organizations dedicated “to making the world a better place.”
