AFTER THE SUCCESS OF INTERNATIONAL NETFLIX ORIGINAL LUIS MIGUEL: THE SERIES, WE TOUCH BASE WITH DIEGO BONETA, WHO PLAYS THE ICON, TO DISCUSS WHAT IT’S LIKE TO EMULATE YOUR HERO AND WHAT TO EXPECT FOR SEASON TWO, STARTING THIS MONTH.
This season is more human, there are more layers and it is more complex, âsays actor and singer Diego Boneta (@diego) as he begins to describe the highly anticipated follow-up season of the original Netflix hit. . Luis Miguel: The Serie. The biographical series chronicles the first chapters in the life and fame of the iconic Mexican singer and offers a glimpse into his notoriously private personal life. For Boneta, playing Miguel couldn’t be more of a loop moment. âThe first song I ever sang on television was a Luis Miguel song that was actually chosen for me,â Boneta says. The Mexico City-born actor grew up with Luis Miguel, so it’s no surprise to see him take on this project from all angles: acting, singing and even producing. âIt was my first project that I also produced executive. From producing and singing all the songs to playing two different characters, younger and older, it was all a big challenge for me, âsays Boneta. âBut we have an incredible team in this area. After being in the company for almost 20 years, there is really a magic around this project that I have never experienced. âEl Sol de México,â as Miguel was nicknamed, received a difficult hand in his life that the public weren’t always aware of, but somehow won it, benefiting a vocal register from another world and an unequaled stage presence. âI knew the only way to do this straight was to go all-in,â Boneta says. âWe took on Miguel’s original music producer, Kiko Cibrian, for the second season. A lot of songs that I sing, he wrote and produced them originally in ’92. âBoneta took a year before the first season to prepare vocally and sat down with Miguel himself. âIt was very special to spend time with him, to choose his brain and to collect his anecdotes. It’s very rare for a biopic, âBoneta says. He continues: âThis season, I’m delighted that audiences are listening to the new songs and seeing a different Luis Miguel.â Don’t miss Boneta as Luis Miguel in the second season on Netflix in April.
