So many artists, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), collect even more new music we would call “indie” and talk about what metal comes out. We post music news, song premieres and more all day long. We are updating a weekly playlist some of our favorite tracks right now. Here’s a daily recap with a bunch of interesting, recently released songs in one place.

WESTSIDE GUNN, PREMIER DJ & BRADY WATT – “THE NARCISSIST”

Griselda’s Westside Gunn has teamed up with boom bap legend, premier DJ and producer / musician Brady Watt for this new song, and as you rap you up the coast.

GUNNA & POLO G – “WAVES”

Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers and Eesean Bolden of Warner Records prepare an album titled Cultural jam later this year on Virgin Music Label, and it will feature this well-matched team of Gunna and Polo G.

SMILEY – “OVER THE TOP” (ft. DRAKE)

Drake appears on a new single from Toronto rapper Smiley, which he also released on his OVO Sound label. Drake is in pumped up rap mode on this one, which contrasts nicely with Smiley’s eccentric delivery.

LIL NAS X – “INDUSTRY BABY” (ft. JACK HARLOW)

Lil Nas X has released a new single with Jack Harlow and co-produced by Take A Daytrip and Kanye West. He continues his path in maximalist pop and also in exaggerated music videos.

TINASHE – “I CAN SEE THE FUTURE”

Tinashe shared another taste of the upcoming album 333, and it’s a dose of the kind of melancholy, syrupy R&B she took the world with almost ten years ago.

COMMON HOLLY – “PREOCCUPY” & “THE MOON”

Common Holly released their second album, When I tell you Black Lightning, in 2019, and now she’s back with two wonderful new singles, “Preoccupy” and “The Moon”. About “Preoccupy,” she says, “this song is about the particular apathy and anxiety that makes you turn to yourself and against yourself. It’s been at least a few years now, but it struck a chord with me last year in our collective isolation, it’s taken from an EP that never came out, recorded over a weekend in Toronto with my friends Paul and Kenny from Little Kid. “

COLDPLAY – “COLORATURA”

Here is the second single from the upcoming album produced by Max Martin by Coldplay, Music of the Spheres – the ascending ballad soaked in strings, “Coloratura”.

DESIRE (JOHNNY JEWEL) – GHOST REMIX

Desire, the duo of Johnny Jewel and Megan Louise of Chromatics, shared the EP equivalent of remixes, including an ’80s-style revamp of Love Object.


CAMILA CABELLO – “DON’T GO YET”

Camila Cabello announced that she will follow the one of 2019 Romance with his third album Familia, and the first single is “Don’t Go Yet”, which has a strong Latin pop influence. “I think ‘Don’t Go Yet’ is just I think sonorous and melodic, just me being free,” Camila told Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “I think being in Miami for so long and having more family around me and speaking more Spanish made me feel, I don’t know, kind of brought me back.”

THE GREAT JOY – “INTERVAL”

The Joy Formidable shared another song by In the blue, and this one is a catchy, dreamy rock song that reaches a very catchy climax in the chorus.

MAN WITH HEART ATTACK – “OLD ENOUGH 2 DIE”

Heart Attack Man channels’ 90s alternative rock on this catchy new song.

LUKAH – “GLASS GREENHOUSE”

Prolific underground Memphis rapper Lukah is back with a new single, and he finds him spitting venom on a zoned psychedelic production.

RICK HYDE – “HUSTLER’S PRAYER” (ft. HEEM)

Benny the Butcher’s Black Soprano Family’s Rick Hyde to release new project Plates 2 August 20 via BSF / eOne. It features Benny, Westside Gunn, A $ AP Ferg, The Alchemist, and more, and his lead single is the tough rap rap of “Hustler’s Prayer” (with fellow BSF Heem member).

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME – “REVOLUTION IN LIMBO”

If you’re pitching your new album as a sequel to one of your more classic LPs, you’d better bring back some of your classic sound, and so far BTBAM has done just that with singles for Colors II. It’s their second, and it’s an intense attack of progressive metal in the style of their beloved 2000s material.

ISAIAH RASHAD – “WAT U SED” (FT. DOECHII & KAL BANX)

Isaiah Rashad is one week away from releasing his second album The house is on fire (scheduled for July 30 via TDE), and he shared another single ahead of its release: the warm and laid back “Wat U Sed”. Read more here.

OBONGJAYAR x SARZ – CANDY PE

Nigerian Afro-fusionist Obongjayar and producer Sarz released a four-song collaborative EP, a bit more overtly pop than Obongjayar’s usual material. “I would describe EP as a genre shift,” Sarz said. “It fuses synthwave, 80s music, afrobeats and pop.” One song, “Gone Girl”, is accompanied by a video.

ZEAL & ARDEUR – “DELETE”

Zeal & Ardor’s new song begins calm and calming before exploding into caustic metal. “’Erase’ aims to confuse you in the most enjoyable way possible,” said frontman Manuel Gagneux.

MØL – “PHOTOPHOBE”

Danish black metal MØL release new album Diorama on November 15th via Nuclear Blast, and it will feature “Photophobic”, which injects super heavy black metal with just a hint of bright melody.

OHGEESY – “BIG BAD WOLF” (ft. YG)

OhGheesy from the late Shoreline Mafia is releasing a new solo album, GeezyWorld, August 27 via Atlantic. It features DaBaby, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and YG, the latter being on this strong, booming and very catchy new single.

BAKERSTEEZ – “THE BLESSINGS” (ft. POPCAAN)

Jamaican rapper Bakersteez has released a new EP, active, and one of its strengths is the dancehall-tinged Popcaan collaboration “Blessings”.

KIANA LEDÉ – “UR BEST FRIEND” (FT. KEHLANI)

Kiana Ledé and Kehlani have teamed up for smoky, airy and very relaxed R&B on “Ur Best Friend”.

SCHOOL DRUGS – VISITATION PE

NJ’s School Drugs followed their debut LP in 2019 Modern medicine with this new three song EP on Indecision Records, and it returns to the raw, grimy sounds of early ’80s hardcore in a way that goes beyond retro.

SECRET NIGHT GANG – “CAPTURE”

Following the recent singles “The Sun” and “Journey”, British group Secret Night Gang, signed by Brownswood Recordings, returns with another new single, and it recalls the heyday of 70s disco.

HERISIÈRE – “ALL ENDS”

Seattle post-hardcore / sludge band Heiress (with current and former members of Himsa, Undertow, Blightmaker, and more) will release their first album in five years, Distant fires, October 1 via Satanik Royalty Records, and the massive single “All Ends” is out now.

CALICOCO – “HEAL ME”

New York’s Long Beach, Calicoco (Giana Caliolo’s Project) to Release New Album Under September 3 via Dadstache Records, and the lead single “Heal Me” is a catchy, punk dose of indie rock.

JHARIAH – A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO Fake Your Death PE

Jhariah from New York has released a new EP that fuses maniacal circus music, theatrical rock opera vibes, punk / emo grit, and more. It may sound like a cross between My Chemical Romance and Panic! at the disco, but Jhariah makes it his own.

TUFF SUN – YESTERDAY COSTUME

Tuff Sunshine – Johnny Leitera, Turner Stough, Linda Pitmon – makes folk indie rock reminiscent of Donovan and Elliot Smith but a decidedly acerbic attitude to New York. Costume from yesterday is the band’s new album.

STUCK – “POLICE CITY”

Chicago’s Stuck does some loud punk that might appeal to fans of IDLES, TV Priest, or McLusky. “City of Police” is the band’s new single Content that makes you feel good EP coming out August 13 via Exploding in Sound.

SITCOM – “GUTTER”

New York musician Jake Lazovick makes music under the name Gutter and has just signed with Terrible Records. His first single for the label, “Gutter”, is a melodious indie pop that gets a little crazy at the end.

THE COLOR FORTY-NEW (WITH RUBÉN ALBARRÁN) – “WHAT SHOULD I KNOW? / ¿YO QUE SÉ?

Pop group Orch made a stunning hand-drawn animated video for their new single with Rubén Albarrán from Café Tacvba

TELETHON – “POSITIVELY CLARK STREET” & “CHECKER DRIVE” (SINGLE VERSION)

Wisconsin punky power pop group Telethon have announced a new album, Swim past the breakers, due on 08/20 via Take This To Heart, and shared two very catchy new singles, which you can read more about here.

FENNE LILY – “Me, NIETZSCHE (ACOUSTIC)”

Fenne Lily released her debut album for Dead Oceans, INFRINGE, in 2020, and she is reinventing some of her songs for a new EP, Cylinder head acoustics, which will be released on August 6 via Dead Oceans. “I wrote INFRINGE with the intention of playing it live and big, but when my world got smaller, it just seemed like these songs were smaller too, ”she says. “Follow these songs in one take and quietly; bring them back to the way they started when I wrote them – that was good. Like traveling through time without risk. “

WASTED CHET – “THE KNIFE”

Jacob McCabe of New Hampshire’s independent / emo rock band Perspective, A Lovely Hand to Hold is also a solo artist under the name Chet Wasted, and he is releasing his debut album. Raspberry 08/27 via Count Your Lucky Stars. New single “The Noose” channels psychedelic solar pop from bands like The Kinks, The Zombies and The Beach Boys, and you can read more about it here.

BOLDY JAMES & THE ALCHEMIST – “FIRST 48 FREESTYLE”

Boldy James and his frequent collaborator The Alchemist have announced another album together, Bo jackson, which is due out August 13. Learn more about the first single here.

XYMOX CLAN – LIMBO

Great Goths and alumnus of 4AD Xymox Clan are back with a new album, Limbo. Like last year Spider on the wall, Ronny Moorings delivers the classic Xymox sound, full of dark and melodic anthemic choruses, catchy rhythms and rolling synth toms, moody basslines and his soaring melodramatic voice.
