MENASHA (NBC 26) – A free bilingual pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic is being held in Menasha on Saturday to provide accessible and barrier-free vaccinations to those who choose to be vaccinated.
The clinic will provide the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 22 at Maplewood Middle School, 1600 Midway Road, Menasha.
Those interested in receiving the vaccine are asked to register by calling 920-249-5169. Walk-ins are also welcome. Identity documents and health insurance are not required.
“You don’t need an ID,” said Victor Flores, outreach specialist at the Menasha Public Library. “You don’t need to have a lot of paperwork or complicated documents; you just need to show up.”
Everyone who receives their vaccination at the pop-up vaccination clinic will receive a $ 10 gift card to use at one of these three businesses in the area: Chicken Grill Mexican Restaurant, Quinto Sol Markets, or Lindo Michoacan Restaurant and Mini Market.
“Latins get vaccinated twice as fast as whites,” Flores said. “So there are barriers to explaining that. One of the biggest barriers has been accessibility and we don’t know where to get the vaccine. So places like this and pop-up clinics like this are important because of it. “
The location of the school was chosen in the center of Menasha to hopefully make it easier for people to attend school, Flores said.
“We want people to know they can come,” he said. “Whether those barriers that they feel like accessibility, language, insecurity, all of those things really don’t matter. These things shouldn’t be a barrier for them to come in and access the vaccine. . ”
The clinic is hosted by Casa Hispana Inc., the Partnership Community Health Center, the Town of Menasha and the Tri-County Multicultural Communications Committee with supporting community sponsors: Ascension, Chicken Grill Mexican Restaurant, Quinto Sol Market, Lindo Michoacan Restaurant and Mini Market, Menasha Joint School District, Winnebago County, Fox Valley Community Foundation, CAP Services, Red Shoes Inc. and ThedaCare.
