Jean-Clair Todibo thinks he knows where it all went wrong for him at Barcelona. The defender has arrived at Camp Nou since Toulouse in January 2019, but is now in his third loan spell away from the club.
The French, currently at Pleasant, only made four appearances for Barcelona in LaLiga Santander before leaving for Schalke on loan last season.
“I lacked humility, seriousness and professionalism”, Todibo told L’Equipe.
“I don’t know who I thought I was.
“I am doing my best now, not so that people can say that I have changed but because it makes me feel good.
“I can’t pay attention to the opinions of others in football, otherwise you quickly end up in a bad situation.
“The only person whose opinion matters is me.”
Todibo has only featured a handful of times under Ernesto Valverde as Barcelona reached the LaLiga Santander title in 2018/19.
“Going to Barcelona and not playing is crap,” admitted Todibo.
“I didn’t help the team.
“I won a league title, but in reality it is not true.
“I played when we had already won the title!
“I’d rather wear a Sedan shirt and play than go to Barcelona and not play.
“You also have less criticism.”
Pleasant have the opportunity to buy Todibo at the end of his loan this summer, with his Barcelona contract not expiring until 2023.
