Hui He to open Suzhou Symphony Orchestra’s 2021-22 season

Hui He is scheduled to open the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra 2021-22 at the Grand Theater of the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center.

The concert, due to take place on September 11, 2021, will be conducted by Maestro Xu Zhong and will be dedicated to the German repertoire.

Hui He will sing alongside tenor Han Peng in the duet from Act 2 of Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde”.

The duo will be a return of the soprano to the German repertoire. She first sang “Ariadne auf Naxos” by Richard Strauss at the Greek National Theater and sang Liebestod d’Isolde. She also performed Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder.

In a statement, Hui He said, “It is a joy for me to come back and make music with these amazing musicians. It will be a pleasure to share the stage again with Maestro Xu Zhong, with whom we worked wonderfully on ‘Cavalleria’ and my debut in ‘Pagliacci’, and with the tenor Han Peng who was my Canio and Turiddu. Singing Wagner for me is an extraordinary feeling. I love this intoxicating music and move me to give my soul to a transcendent character like Isolde. I believe that my voice finds fertile ground to express itself in this music. I look forward to singing this role and other German Wagnerian roles in the future.

The concert will also feature the Brahms Violin Concerto performed by violinist Ning Feng.
