In time for Menstrual Hygiene Day, #HappyPeriod reinvigorates FLOW period pop-ups

The Flex Co. is a proud partner of #HappyPeriod, which promotes menstrual health education for BIPOC and minority communities across Los Angeles County Region

VENICE, California, May 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ – In anticipation of Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28The Flex Co. has partnered with #HappyPeriod for a FLOW period care pop-up – a health education event held at The salt eaters bookstore on May 14. Held for the benefit of the teenagers of Compton G. IRLS ClubFLOW brought together three prominent local Black-owned organizations to support today’s youth.

#HappyPeriod is the first black-led nonprofit addressing a need for education, advocacy, and access to menstrual health, especially among teens, teens, and young adults. Studies have shown that 1 in 5 teenagers1 in the United States miss class due to lack of access to period products and 23% of students1 find it difficult to afford period products. The contextual FLOW periodic care program was created to address these issues, particularly among underserved groups.

FLOW provides a shame-free space to discuss menstruation and introduce self-care methods to have a better period week. As a partner, The Flex Co. supports the #HappyPeriods workshop program and provides personal hygiene resources and products to all participants – women, girls, females and gender-broad humans. Education is a cornerstone of Flex’s mission, as is creating opportunities for more health education within the minority and BIPOC communities served by #HappyPeriod. With these FLOW pop-ups, #HappyPeriod hopes to draw the attention of local public schools to provide a more formal educational service to institutions that wish to place greater value on the importance of menstruation.

“It brings me joy to serve the Compton G.IRLS Club alongside our amazing partners. This year’s launch of FLOW Menstrual Care Pop-Ups has been a huge success and is a testament to the impact that black women and women have in the community. We are committed to supporting our underserved youth and are grateful to share these experiences,” says Chelsea VonChaz, Founder of #HappyPeriod.

The May 14 The FLOW period pop-up event was also supported by Shoe Palace Corporation and Nike.
