While live music moves indoors this fall, much of the hottest local gigs is reserved for clubs and small venues.

Here’s a look at some very engaging and relatively intimate shows taking place between now and Thanksgiving, old favorites, and relative newcomers.

Gary Numan7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the city ballroom

The alternative icon and synth pioneer offered a steamy and exciting tour through his newest and oldest tracks during his last performance at the Town Ballroom, in December 2017. He will bring material from a new album Uber- strong, “Intruder”, with him for his return engagement.

Eric without mercy, 8 p.m. on October 4 at Mohawk Place; $ 10,

The prospect of catching a new wave / punk personality the size of Wreckless Eric at an intimate club like Mohawk Place is terribly alluring.

Larkin Poe, 8 p.m. on October 12 at Asbury Hall in Babeville on October 12; $ 29.50 – $ 34.50

The gritty and moving sisterhood act of siblings Rebecca and Megan Lovell comes to the house Ani built.
