In news we weren’t expecting this week, one of the Sugababes will play Mariah Carey in a Netflix series.

Jade Ewen will star in the upcoming third season of Luis Miguel as an R&B superstar, who had a relationship with Luis Miguel in the late ’90s.

While the show’s first season in Spanish kicked off showing Luis at age 10, the third and final season will follow the Mexican star’s relationship with Mariah between 1999 and 2001.

Diego Boneta will reprise the role of Luis, while Jade will step into Mariah’s shoes for the show.

The 33-year-old shared the show’s trailer on her Instagram and wrote: “Get ready, here she is…”

Last month, she also shared her excitement, writing, “It’s not every day that you get the chance to play your idol. 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 No words … just endless gratitude !!! ‘

The series was filmed in Mexico last year, and Jade appeared to be preparing for the role in November while reading the book The Meaning Of Mariah Carey.

She had shared on Instagram: “My absolute idol. My reason to sing and my biggest inspiration. Her strength, talent and faith are second to none. What an absolute QUEEN !! ‘

Jade first rose to fame when she represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, singing It’s My Time accompanied by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber on the piano.

She finished fifth in the competition, making her the most successful British actor at Eurovision Song Contest since 2002.

After the Sugababes, Jade returned to theater, having played Young Nala in The Lion King in the West End at the age of 10, and joined the cast of In The Heights in the West End.

She then played Princess Jasmine, the West End production of Aladdin.
