This week there is no central theme for the Underground Food Weekend, but there is indeed plenty to do.

There are a few food-centric festivals taking place worth noting. We at @punkfoodie.atl hold a little Punk Food Festival at @scofflawbeer (on MacArthur) on Saturdays with 8 pop-up chefs offering a wide variety of dishes including Reuben okonomiyaki, Filipino sous vide pork belly, cubanos with Coca-Cola glazed ham and chicken and melted noodle soup among many others options. On Sunday, @biteofkorea organizes O4W Mini Food Fest with @fidelasstreetkitchen (Latin), @coffynpyes (savory pies) and @gorditasatl (Mexican). This is the last Mini Food Fest for BOK, as they “graduate” with their brick and mortar spot opening at Tucker later this summer (yay!), although the festival should be continued by others in the near future.

Also on Sunday, @stolengoodsatl The collective has a Sunday cooking (tagged) in the new event space @westside_motor_lounge with a whole host of awesome chefs appearing, including @bryanfurmanbbq, @chefscotleyinnis and James Beard Award Finalist @cafeclaudia.atl. This event is definitely worth a visit.

Looking for late night snacks from deep within Southeast Asia? @sosofedatl serves Lao cuisine at Little 5 (takeout only) until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, while @eatmorekhmer got you covered for the Khmer until 2am if you’re willing to make the trek to Jonesboro.

And here are some pre-orders you should consider:

  • Order meatballs from @soupbelly_atl before 11:30 a.m. on Friday for pick-up on Saturday.
  • Order matcha black sesame s’more cookie sandwiches or indulgent rice krispie treats from @kaisubakehouse Friday for weekend pickup.
  • Order a BBQ from @secretpintbbq before June 28e for the 4th of julye Retrieve
  • Order Vietnamese spicy fried chicken and banh mi family meal with lots of prep by June 30e for July 3rd Retrieve.

To finish, make a donation at @flavorforward.atl for a chance to win one of over 40 food prizes from chefs and restaurants like Kamayan, Secret Pint, The Lawrence and Soup Belly. It’s good food for a good cause. 100% of the money raised will be used to buy ingredients for the chefs to prepare meals that will be delivered to Free99Fridge community refrigerators.
