Selena Gomez on the first Latin best albums # 1 with ‘Revelacion’

Biggest week for a woman’s Latin album since 2017: The seven tracks Revelation released on March 12 via Interscope / IGA. Of its starting sum of 23,000 equivalent album units, album sales include 14,000 and most of the rest are SEA units (or 12.21 million on-demand streams of songs in the ensemble) . Selena’s first Latin project claims biggest week for a Latin album by a woman in almost four years, since Shakira Eldorado started with 29,000 units in its first week (chart dated June 17, 2017).

“Without a doubt, the hardest part was having to do all the sessions on Zoom,” Gomez adds. “We started recording the EP just before Covid shut down everything. At first I ended up canceling sessions because I found it so uninspiring not to be in the same room with everyone. I finally managed to get past it and am extremely happy with the way the music came together. [Producer] Tainy was very patient with me as I worked through my frustrations.

First album of a woman n ° 1 of the best Latin albums since 2017: Revelation is the first album of a female act at No. 1 of the best Latin albums since Shakira Eldorado spent his fifth and final non-consecutive week at the top of the August 5, 2017 list.

Highest start of a female solo since 2016: Gomez also marks the highest debut of a female solo since Jenni Rivera. Paloma Negra Desde Monterrey Likewise, debuted at the top of the list in November 2016. Entre Rivera et Gomez, a collaborative ensemble of two women launched at No.1: Gloria Trevi and Alejandra Guzman Against in July 2017.

First female act to simultaneously direct the best Latin albums and the Latin broadcast in over a decade: While Gomez’s “Baila Conmigo”, with Rauw Alejandro, simultaneously covers the new Latin Airplay charts, she becomes the first female act in over a decade to direct both charts simultaneously. The last woman to achieve the feat was Shakira when Sale el Sol and “Loca,” starring El Cata, reigned on both Top Latin Albums and Latin Airplay, respectively in November 2010.

Elsewhere, Gomez places a total of four tracks on Hot Latin Songs, all from Revelation – one of which makes his top 20 debut: “Baila Conmigo” with Rauw Alejandro lifts 8-5, “Selfish Love” with DJ Snake, is at No 18, “Dámelo To”, with Myke Towers, starts to The n ° 20 and “De Una Vez” come under n ° 50.

“Releasing ‘De Una Vez’ as the first song was the perfect way to introduce the new music,” says Gomez. “It’s a song that I really associated with and I think it’s wonderful with a message of hope and healing. I think all collaborators bring different elements to the table. With Snake it was great because we have a story together so on a simple level of comfort that was nice to have. On “Dámelo Tó”, Myke brings this fluid rap and makes you want it to be summer because it has the kind of vibe. When we recorded ‘Baila Conmigo’ I knew we needed a male voice and Rauw has the ideal sexy and soulful voice that complements the song perfectly.

Revelation Simultaneously fell to No. 1 on Latin Pop albums and No. 22 on the Billboard 200 All Genres chart.
