Singer Camila Cabello tells how she crossed the Mexican-American border

Cabello joined Corden last week for his famous “Carpool Karaoke” segment, where the host interviews and sings with celebrities on the way to work. The 25-year-old songwriter recalled her trip to America, saying her mother is Cuban and her father is Mexican.

“My mom crossed the border into Mexico with me when I was 7,” the “Havana” singer told Corden. “We had to leave my dad in Mexico. She practically had the clothes on her back, barely any money and didn’t speak English.”

Cabello recalled her family telling her she was going to Disney World, adding that she had no idea what was going on at the time. She said all she took to America was her diary and a Monsters Inc. doll.

As for his father, Cabello said he then swam across the Rio Grande to enter the country from Mexico. Corden teased that he would never let his children hear the end if he swam across a river for them. He joked, “I didn’t swim across a border so you wouldn’t clean your room.”

Although her dad crossed the border for Cabello, she said she couldn’t invite him to her 25th birthday party because she didn’t want her dad to see her throwing a**s at her. .
