SpongeBob Musical Comedy To Be Set For Two Weeks At Axelrod Theater

There is no shortage of Broadway-caliber shows at the Axelrod Performing Arts Arts Center. If you are looking to bring the kids to the theater then you should take a look at his next production of “The Musical SpongeBob”, Which will extend from November 27 to December 5.

Presented by the Axelrod Performing Arts Academy, The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg.

Ocean Township, NJ–– The Axelrod Performing Arts Academy (APAA) presents its first musical, The Musical SpongeBob, at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC) for two weekends, starting Thanksgiving weekend: from November 27 to December 5, 2021.

APAC Artistic Director Andrew DePrisco, a huge fan of this ‘quirky and fun musical’ shares (with a wink), “I really think this is the perfect musical for the whole family.” Adults and kids just don’t laugh at the same jokes, and underneath all this kinky nonsense there is a real heart and a real message to take home.

Making her directorial debut at APAC is an original actor Abby C. Smith, who created the role of Mrs. Puff on Broadway, assisted by the choreographer Robert Taylor, Jr., also a member of the original Broadway company.

Smith is proud of her cast and congratulates them on their “heart and energy”. “Having a role in creating the show on Broadway was so special and meaningful to me,” she said, “I’m grateful to be able to share this piece of my heart with this young cast and the community at Axelrod and help continue the legacy of this beautiful spectacle.

Based on the popular Nickelodeon series of Stephen hillenberg, The Musical SpongeBob was written by Kyle jarrow with an eclectic and trendy score of rock and pop icons David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Yolanda Adams, Lady Antebellum, Sarah Bareilles and others, with additional music by Tom kitt (Next to normal).

Populating the Underwater World of Bikini Bottom are the following young actors, all of whom are trained at APAA, which is located at Bell Works. In the role of the happy SpongeBob SquarePants is Sealth Grover (Navesink), his envious BFF Patrick Star is played by Micah Schachet-Briskin (Marlboro), the power hungry plankton by Quincy Southerland (Long Branch), nourishing sand players by Giada García (Manalapan), the grumpy (tap dancing) Squidward by Aman Tolia (Holmdel), Eugene H. Krabs obsessed with money by Brennan Boyce (Howell), and his spirited daughter Pearl by Christian adah (Brick). The New York-based actor also joins Jacques Henri Jones joins the cast as Patchy the Pirate.

Serving as musical director is Michel gilch, who will conduct an orchestra of six musicians. The show’s design team includes Fred sorrentino (scenic), Indigo Shea (lighting), Susan bloir (accessories), Gerry Gironda (sound) with costumes provided by Scaramouche Costumes of Chester, NJ. Denis tolentino is the manager. The show is produced by Andrew DePrisco and Gabriel Chajnik, the director of APAA.

Spectators of the theater are required to wear masks. Customers who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 or children under the age of twelve must present a negative Covid test (within 72 hours of show time).
